#ThriftNTell w/ @Lipstickxlabelz
Are you ballin’ on a budget? Tired of spending an excessive amount of money on clothes? Do you try to find unique pieces that nobody else has? THRIFT! The wave of thrifting has always been a way for fashion lovers to express themselves for the low low.
I recently got a chance to interview the thrift queen herself, @Lipstickxlabelz, who has created a huge movement on her social platforms called #ThriftNTell. She’s a die hard thrifter and a perfect example to show her followers how to shop on a dime and still be stylish! & you don’t have to spend a bag to serve looks!
What inspired you to start it?
Lipstickxlabelz: ”I started the hashtag #ThriftNtell because I was becoming bored with fashion and what ppl considered it to be. It seemed as if style meant that you had to have on labelz & if you didn’t then... you weren’t in “style”. I actually started thrifting in high school then stopped for a while but got re-inspired to start back 4 years ago when I kept coming across the most unique pieces that I knew i wouldn’t be able to find in a store, & if I did it would be $500 with a label attached to it! So basically it’s a spinoff from looksnLabelz which I plan to just turn into thrift N tell — it’s gets the people going!! Lol”
Did you expect the amount of supporters to join?
Lipstickxlabelz: “Actually, YES! Lol I knew people would find this exciting! I knew it could easily get a buzz & it was affordable for all ppl. It attracts almost everyone—the rich, the middle class, and the “poor”. Being that most things in the thrift store needs to be tweaked a little, it also FORCES you to be creative— I’M ALL FOR TRIGGERING SOME CREATIVITY & I also knew ppl love to look different. Everyone has on the same similar type clothes!”
How often do you thrift?
Lipstickxlabelz: “Lately ppl have been paying me to thrift for them so i would say 5 times a week lol! I actually find it therapeutic— i come up with a lot of content ideas in the thrift store. Even the old songs you hear in the thrift store are inspiring — a lot of Motown is played at goodwill — I LOVE IT!”
